HBO Hacked: Game Of Thrones Upcoming Episodes & Data Leaked Online

United States' premium cable and satellite channel HBO on Monday reported a hack and said their upcoming episodes and data have been stolen, which includes a script of an unaired episode of their hit fantasy show, Game Of Thrones.

The Time Warner-owned channel issued a statement in which they said the "cyber incident" has resulted in "the compromise of proprietary information" and that they have contacted cyber security firms and law enforcement agencies to probe the incident.

HBO Chairman Richard Plepler said in a release, "As most of you have probably heard by now, there has been a cyber incident directed at the company, which has resulted in some stolen proprietary information, including some of our programming."

"Any intrusion of this nature is obviously disruptive, unsettling and disturbing for all of us... I can assure you that senior leadership and our extraordinary technology team, along with outside experts, are working round the clock to protect our collective interests. The efforts across multiple departments have been nothing short of Herculean. It is a textbook example of quintessential HBO teamwork. The problem before us is unfortunately all too familiar in the world we now find ourselves a part of. As has been the case with any challenge we have ever face, I have absolutely no doubt that we will navigate our way through this successfully," the statement further stated.

Media reports state the hackers stolen nearly 1.5 terabytes of data and have also posted unaired episodes of Ballers and Room 104, along with a script for next week's episode of Game Of Thrones online.

Big news agencies including AFP and Reuters have also received emails from unknown sources, that boast about the hack, with claims of the stolen data. "Hi to all mankind. The greatest leak of cyber space era is happening. What's its name? Oh, I forgot to tell. It's HBO and Game Of Thrones......!!!!!! You are lucky to be the first pioneers to witness and download the leak. Enjoy it & spread the words. Whoever spreads well, we will have an interview with him. HBO is falling," the email read.

The hack comes after the channel has fought for years the cyber-battle to keep their Game Of Thrones storyline a secret. During its Season 5, the first four episodes were leaked before its premiere. The same time, some clips of Jon Snow's death also found its way on the internet, before the finale was aired.
