Casey Affleck Finally Responds To Summer Phoenix’s Divorce Filing

American actor and director Casey Affleck has finally opened up about his wife Summer Pheonix filing for a divorce

In the documents submitted to the court, Casey cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason behind their split, and sought the custody of their two children, Indiana (13) and Atticus (19).

Affleck also asked the court to “terminate the court’s ability to award support to petitioner,” which Summer had, in fact, requested for. However, reports quoted a source saying, “The divorce was amicable and this was all done with ease. Casey is paying spousal support.”

But despite their split, the Manchester by The Sea actor thanked her during his acceptance speech for winning the Best Actor award at the Golden Globes 2017. “Lastly, I’ll just say that despite how I might think I’m in charge at my house, it’s my kids who give me permission to do this, because they have got the strength of character to keep at bay all of the noise that sometimes surrounds people who live publicly, to let me travel for months at a time. So, I love you. Thank you very much,” he said, adding, “And to their mom who gave me just aout every good acting idea I ever had, thank you very much, I love you.”

The couple had met in 1995 after Summer’s brother Joaquin Phoenix introduced them. They had begun dating short after and were engaged by 2003. Three years later in 2006, they exchanged vows. But in March 2016, the couple split and Summer filed for divorce.
